Junior Accountant

• Job Title: Assistant Accountant
• Reports To: Accounts Manager

Position Summary: The Assistant Accountant will support the Accounts Manager in daily financial operations, including preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate accounting records, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to support accurate financial reporting
• Record financial transactions promptly and maintain organized accounting records to ensure data accuracy
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently to maintain cash flow integrity
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to verify financial accuracy and completeness
• Assist in developing budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support financial planning and control
• Conduct financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements
• Apply knowledge of local accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance in all financial activities
• Provide ad-hoc financial support to the finance team to meet operational needs

Required competencies and certifications

• Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and XERO accounting software

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and local accounting standards
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
