Solutions Director (Data Centres)

Job Summary

Lead technical solutioning and customer engagement for data centre opportunities across APAC. Shape customer solutions, direct regional pre-sales activities, and translate complex technical requirements into commercially viable, deliverable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical customer engagement with hyperscale, cloud, and enterprise customers across APAC during pre-sales and early project implementation phases.
• Develop and guide regional Solutions Leads to ensure consistent customer engagement and solution development approaches.
• Gather and interpret complex customer requirements to align solutions with capacity, technical capabilities, and commercial goals.
• Translate customer needs into detailed technical solutions covering power, cooling, connectivity, capacity, and deployment.
• Assess solution feasibility considering site-specific factors such as power availability, land, connectivity, infrastructure, and local regulations.
• Collaborate with Commercial teams to provide technical input on pricing, commercial structures, proposals, and contract negotiations.
• Lead and coordinate the technical RFI/RFP and bid response processes, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and timely submissions across cross-functional teams.
• Partner with Design, Engineering, Operations, and Delivery teams to confirm technical feasibility and successful delivery of solutions.
• Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and statutory requirements across APAC markets in all solutions.
• Develop and standardize technical solution templates, design responses, bid documentation, and other collateral to support regional opportunities.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor in strategic customer discussions, presentations, and workshops, engaging senior and executive stakeholders.
• Provide technical and customer insights to support regional business strategy, capacity planning, and market expansion initiatives.

Required competencies and certifications

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline. Electrical engineering experience is advantageous.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in data centres, mission-critical infrastructure, engineering consultancy, or related large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience in customer-facing solutions engineering, technical pre-sales, or design management roles.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing and managing technical or solutions teams across multiple locations or markets.
• Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, connectivity, and capacity planning.
• Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud, colocation, or large enterprise data centre customers.
• Regional APAC experience with exposure to multiple data centre markets such as Southeast Asia, Australia, Japan, and India.
• Ability to integrate technical solutions with commercial considerations including pricing, construction costs, and contractual requirements.
• Proven capability to collaborate effectively across Commercial, Design, Engineering, Operations, and Project Delivery functions.
• Experience managing RFI/RFP responses, technical proposals, and complex customer requirements.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills to engage senior and C-suite customer stakeholders.
• Strong leadership skills to influence and coordinate teams across functions and geographies.
• Willingness to travel regularly across APAC for customer meetings, project engagements, and site visits.
