Epiq is seeking detail-oriented and motivated individuals to join our team as Speech-to-Text Transcript Quality Controllers. About the Role
As a Speech-to-Text Transcript Quality Controller, you will review, proofread, and edit legal transcripts against audio recordings to ensure the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and client satisfaction. Full training will be provided to equip you with the specialist skills and knowledge required for the role.
You will work closely with editors, coordinators, and other transcription professionals to deliver accurate transcripts within client deadlines while maintaining established productivity and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Proofread, review, and edit legal transcripts against audio recordings to achieve required accuracy standards.
- Ensure all transcripts comply with client-specific formatting and style requirements.
- Provide constructive feedback to transcription editors to support continuous improvement.
- Conduct research and utilise available reference materials to verify transcript accuracy.
- Maintain and update terminology glossaries and reference resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of transcripts.
- Work across multiple jurisdictions and transcript formats as required.
- Maintain familiarity with transcription and audio playback platforms, including Liberty, FTR, and VIQ.
- Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround-time targets.
- Communicate effectively with Transcript Managers, Coordinators, and Quality Assurance teams.
- Participate in training, performance reviews, and special projects as required.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and safe working environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Strong grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong listening and comprehension abilities, including the ability to understand a variety of accents.
- Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
- Good computer literacy and ability to learn new software applications.
- Strong concentration and the ability to remain focused for extended periods.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.
Preferred but Not Essential
- Previous experience in transcription, proofreading, editing, quality control, or copy typing.
- Familiarity with audio transcription tools and workflows.
- Knowledge of legal, court, or professional documentation environments.
