Role Overview
The Social Media Content Producer is responsible for developing, producing and delivering engaging social media content across multiple platforms and formats. The role combines content ideation, hands-on production, platform knowledge and project coordination, with a strong focus on creating timely, relevant and audience-centric content.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, responding to evolving content needs and managing projects from concept and pre-production through filming, editing and final delivery. The role requires someone who is creatively driven, digitally savvy and able to translate communications objectives into effective social-first content.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Content Development
- Conceptualise and develop creative content ideas based on client briefs, communications objectives, target audiences and platform requirements.
- Translate key messages into compelling social-first content, including short-form videos, reels, interviews, explainers, event coverage and other digital formats.
- Develop content treatments, storyboards, scripts, shot lists and other pre-production materials where required.
- Keep abreast of emerging social media trends, formats, platform features and audience behaviours, and identify opportunities to incorporate them appropriately into content.
- Adapt content and storytelling approaches for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and other emerging channels.
Content Production
- Plan and execute social media shoots, including interviews, events, activations and other on-location productions.
- Operate cameras and basic production equipment where required and work closely with videographers, editors, designers and other creative team members.
- Edit short-form and social media videos, including basic colour correction, audio treatment, graphics, captions and platform-specific formatting.
- Produce content with an understanding of the need for speed, relevance and turnaround, particularly for time-sensitive or event-based communications.
- Repurpose and optimise existing assets into suitable content formats for different platforms.
Project & Client Management
- Manage assigned content projects from brief through to final delivery, ensuring timelines, deliverables and quality standards are met.
- Work directly with clients and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify briefs and provide recommendations on content execution.
- Coordinate production schedules, talent, locations, equipment and other resources required for shoots.
- Manage feedback and revisions efficiently while maintaining the creative intent and communications objectives of the project.
- Support multiple concurrent projects and prioritise deliverables according to deadlines and operational requirements.
Content Strategy & Performance
- Contribute ideas to social media content plans, campaigns and always-on content strategies.
- Apply an understanding of platform algorithms, audience behaviour and content performance when developing content.
- Review content performance and identify learnings that can improve future creative execution.
- Work with account, strategy and creative teams to ensure content is aligned with the broader campaign and communications strategy.
AI & Emerging Content Tools
- Explore and apply AI-enabled tools to support content ideation, scripting, visualisation, editing, asset generation and production workflows.
- Identify opportunities where AI and emerging technologies can improve turnaround time, production efficiency and creative possibilities.
- Remain current with developments in generative AI and new digital content-production tools while ensuring responsible and appropriate use.
