Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) Lab Assistant - MOE Secondary School (Job Reference: TSTKCW-2026-08-001)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, organised, and dependable Food Lab Assistant to support the daily operations of the Nutrition and Food Science Laboratory, while providing administrative support in an MOE Secondary School near Redhill MRT. You will work closely with the HOD/LH-Science and Vice Principal, Administration Managers/Executives and School Leaders to ensure smooth school operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Be in the Teacher’s Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours

• Ordering of food ingredients before lesson

• Preparation of ingredients before lessons, ensuring food is prepared and handled safely

• Maintaining cleanliness of utensils, equipment and food laboratories areas

• Handling inventory and stock taking of resources e.g. books, utensils and equipment

• Assisting the teacher during practical session e.g. ensuring that students observe safety rules, guiding students in preparation skills

• Administration – Checking and filing of invoices and keeping track of the cost of the ingredients

• Any other duties relating to the food laboratories assigned by NFS teachers, SH/NFS, HOD/Craft and Technology and the School Leaders.

Job Requirements

● Minimum qualification of Primary 6

● Basic mathematical skills e.g. able to calculate the amount of ingredients based on a given recipe for seven classes

● Good knowledge on food ingredients and food preparation.

● Preferably to have attained the Basic Food Hygiene Course

● Must have at least 1 year experience working on food preparation in a commercial/school or training kitchen

● Previous working experience in a school-kitchen will be an added advantage

Employment Details

Contract Period: From 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.

Location: Redhill MRT

Working Hours:

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of 0.5 hr lunch break

• Fridays: 7:30am to 1:30pm (no lunch break)

• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
