About the Role
Pacific Island Express Services is looking for a hands-on Finance Manager totake ownership of our full-set accounts and lead the day-to-day financefunction of our shipping and freight forwarding operations. This is a broadrole suited to someone who has grown through an accounting team and is readyto step up into full ownership of the reporting cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full sets of accounts, including AR, AP, GL, bank reconciliations and fixed asset registers
- Close monthly, quarterly and annual accounts within agreed deadlines, andprepare management reports with variance commentary
- Handle multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange revaluation arisingfrom international freight and shipping activity
- Perform job costing and margin analysis for freight jobs, includingreconciliation of carrier invoices, freight charges and disbursements
- Prepare and file quarterly GST returns and annual corporate tax submissionsto IRAS, ensuring compliance with Singapore tax and statutory requirements
- Prepare annual budgets, rolling forecasts and cash flow projections
- Manage credit control, monitor customer ageing and follow up on overdueaccounts with the commercial team
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretary and bankers
- Review and strengthen internal controls, finance SOPs and approval workflows
- Support management with ad-hoc financial analysis for pricing, routeprofitability and business decisions
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including experiencehandling full sets of accounts independently
- Working knowledge of Singapore GST rules and IRAS filing requirements(GST F5, Form C-S/C) — this is essential for the role
- Familiar with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and comfortable workingin an accounting system such as Xero, MYOB, SAP, NetSuite or similar
- Experience in shipping, freight forwarding, logistics or trading is anadvantage, particularly exposure to multi-currency and job costing
- Strong attention to detail, able to meet closing deadlines and workindependently in a lean team
- Good communication skills, comfortable working with operations andcommercial colleagues who are not from a finance background
