About the role
FOZL Private Client Services is seeking a Fund Accountant / Senior Fund Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting and administration of investment funds and investment-holding structures. The portfolio may include VCCs and their sub-funds, private equity and venture capital funds, family offices, and investment holding companies. The successful candidate will take ownership of assigned client deliverables, work directly with clients and professional advisers, review work prepared by team members, and provide practical guidance to junior staff.
Key responsibilities
Fund accounting and operations
Maintain full sets of accounts and supporting schedules for investment funds, VCCs and sub-funds, family offices, and investment holding companies.
Prepare and review bank, cash, investment, and portfolio reconciliations, and record investment transactions, income, expenses, accruals, and cash movements.
Prepare and review NAV calculations, including management fees, performance fees, and other fund expenses, where applicable.
Process and monitor capital calls and distributions, and maintain accurate investor and transaction records.
Prepare periodic management accounts, investor reporting schedules, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Client service and delivery
Manage assigned client portfolios, work plans, deliverables, and reporting deadlines, and communicate directly with clients on accounting and fund-administration matters.
Coordinate with banks, investment managers, auditors, tax advisers, corporate secretaries, and other service providers to resolve issues and complete deliverables on time.
Compliance and professional coordination
Support client and investor onboarding and maintain the required AML/KYC documentation and records.
Prepare or coordinate quarterly and annual MAS regulatory submissions, where applicable, and coordinate VCC and entity-related corporate secretarial matters.
Prepare accounting schedules and supporting documents for tax compliance and advisory work, and liaise with the relevant internal or external tax professionals.
Review and team support
Review work prepared by other team members, provide clear feedback, and coach junior staff on accounting and fund-administration procedures.
Identify accounting, operational, or compliance issues, escalate significant matters promptly, and contribute to improvements in working papers, templates, and internal controls.
Job requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
At least three years of relevant experience gained in one or more of the following environments: a third-party fund administrator; an asset manager or fund manager; a family office or investment holding platform; or an accounting or audit firm serving investment fund clients.
Sound accounting fundamentals and practical ability to manage full sets of accounts, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
Working knowledge of investment-fund operations and the ability to take ownership of client deliverables and deadlines.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis, and detailed reconciliation work, together with experience using Xero or similar accounting software.
Ability to review the work of other team members and provide practical guidance.
Strong attention to detail, organisation, problem-solving, client-service, and stakeholder-management skills.
Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required, as the role involves regular accounting and fund-administration communications with both English-speaking and Mandarin-speaking clients.
ACCA, CA, CPA, or an equivalent professional qualification (preferred).
Experience with one or more of the following: VCCs and sub-funds, private equity or venture capital funds, family offices, or investment holding companies (preferred).
