Job Summary

ORD is the Offshore Renewables Division in DeepOcean.

The Commercial Lead ORD – APAC (Asia-Pacific) is responsible for executing the commercial strategy, tender leadership, client and supplier relationship management and development of technically and commercially optimised solutions that drive profitable growth and backlog.

Offshore Renewables activity across the Asia-Pacific region is growing significantly, with DeepOcean seeking to establish and expand its position in power cable installation, repair and associated offshore renewable services.

This role will be instrumental in developing and securing commercial opportunities, establishing strategic partnerships, supporting regional supply chain development, and positioning DeepOcean as a preferred provider of cable solutions throughout APAC, while also contributing to global Offshore Renewables Division initiatives.

As part of a global Offshore Renewables business, the role requires regular collaboration with teams across multiple time zones, including Europe, and therefore a degree of flexibility in working hours. The role also provides opportunities for domestic and international travel to support projects, strengthen relationships, and engage with DeepOcean's global Offshore Renewables teams.

Responsibilities

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Tendering and securing of opportunities related to Offshore Renewables Division (ORD) activities.

· Deliver and support on general ORD global commercial activities.

· Provide input into strategic objectives and execution of strategic plans.

· Taking commercial responsibility for ORD prospects and tenders in APAC region and working closely with the global Commercial Director for ORD to attend regular commercial weekly meetings and to ensure alignment with global activities.

HSEQS

KEY TASKS

Tendering:

  • Lead commercial aspects of tenders and strategic opportunities in all offshore renewables opportunities including cable installation and repair across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
  • Work with the Technical Leads to prepare commercial and technical qualifications on various tenders.
  • Prepare and participate in management approvals of commercial proposals.
  • Work with the wider contracts and commercial team to ensure quality client engagement, negotiations and tender clarifications.
  • Drive new business opportunities, framework agreements and market growth.
  • Monitor competitors, subcontractors and market developments.
  • Prepare cost estimate inputs and contribute to pricing strategy.
  • Support handover of awarded projects and capture lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with Commercial Procedure and Project Model.

Strategic Objectives:

  • Provide input into the regional strategic objectives and help to execute the strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of regional offshore renewable and cable supply chains, including vessel providers, cable manufacturers, installation subcontractors, repair specialists and strategic partners.
  • Support qualification and establishment of regional framework agreements and strategic supplier relationships to enhance DeepOcean's competitiveness within APAC.
  • Help provide insight and input into strategic objectives and plans for offshore renewables from a regional and global perspective.
  • Execute on agreed regional strategic objectives including working with partners, clients, and supply chain to implement solutions for cable installation and repair.
  • Driving assessment of supply chain and preparing and providing input to the Supply Chain and Contracts team to enable regional Frame Agreements to be implemented.

Client & Market Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with offshore renewable developers, transmission owners, utilities, EPC contractors and strategic partners throughout APAC.
  • Identify and assess emerging market opportunities associated with offshore wind, interconnector and power cable infrastructure projects.
  • Represent DeepOcean at industry forums, conferences and client engagements to promote Offshore Renewables Division services.
  • Support development of regional market intelligence including competitor activity, client investment plans and upcoming project opportunities.

Global Support

  • Work with Commercial Director – ORD to ensure suitable resourcing of other regional bids from a commercial perspective and provide support as resource needs arise.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and clearly articulate commercial and contractual risks associated with tendering activities.
  • Ensure risks are appropriately priced, allocated contractually, and mitigated through commercial or operational measures.
  • Participate in internal risk reviews, tender risk workshops, and project handovers to ensure commercial continuity from bid to execution.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial assumptions and operational realities throughout the project lifecycle.

General

  • Other activities as required to drive and improve the commercial position of DeepOcean ORD department.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE

  • Degree qualification in Commercial, Engineering, Project Management, Business, Law or another relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

DEMONSTRABLE EXPERIENCE SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE

  • Demonstrated experience within offshore renewables, subsea power cables, cable installation, cable repair and/or associated offshore transmission infrastructure projects.
  • APAC industry experience with knowledge of regional clients, developers, utilities, supply chain participants, cable owners and market dynamics highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex technical and commercial tenders from opportunity identification through contract award.
  • Proven experience developing commercially and technically optimised solutions for offshore, subsea, marine, energy or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, risk allocation, pricing strategy and contract negotiations.
  • Experience building and maintaining senior client relationships and converting opportunities into profitable backlog.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary tender teams and coordinate technical, operational and commercial stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
