Position Summary
The Active Alignment Process Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing optical alignment processes used in transceiver manufacturing. This role focuses on optical coupling performance, automation, equipment optimization, process stability, and NPI support.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree or above in Optical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in optical assembly, precision alignment, semiconductor packaging, or photonics manufacturing.
- Experience with optical transceiver manufacturing is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Active Alignment principles and optical coupling mechanisms.
- Experience with active alignment systems and automation platforms.
- Familiarity with:
- XYZ positioning stages
- 6-axis alignment systems
- Vision systems
- Motion control systems
- Understanding of optical performance measurements such as:
- Coupling efficiency
- Insertion loss
- Optical power measurements
- Experience in process development, recipe optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of photonic packaging and optical assembly processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with SPC, DOE, and process capability analysis.
Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, qualify, and optimize Active Alignment processes for optical transceiver products.
- Establish and maintain alignment recipes, process parameters, and operating procedures.
- Optimize optical coupling performance, process repeatability, and manufacturing throughput.

- Investigate optical performance failures and manufacturing issues.
- Support NPI projects, engineering builds, and product transfer into mass production.
- Collaborate with Product, Optical Design, Process, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Conduct process characterization, capability studies, and DOE experiments.
- Develop and maintain Bonding Programs, alignment recipes, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
- Participate in equipment installation, qualification, and acceptance activities.
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality, reliability, and customer requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product performance.
