About this job

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Technical Direction
  • Bring the right level of support to the RUN, all solutions combined (Engineering Factories on premises and Cloud) with an SLA
  • Planning, estimating and managing BUILD activities in line with business objectives and priorities
  • Supporting, with the IS/IT & ECC (of each country/site) and TDF, the deployment, configuration and administration of the various networks, environments and tools necessary for engineering activities while ensuring compliance with the local security rules
  • Managing COTS/OSS, licenses, for tooled development environments in accordance with the AMS Engineering headquarters
  • Provide direction, expert advice, mentoring, and workflow management, including task prioritization to achieve project objectives and milestones.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, ensuring work products are sufficiently documented for reuse across projects.
  • Project & Process Management
  • Estimating and planning E2 feature backlog and development for the product
  • Lead the product-release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
  • Discussing with the various process, practices and tools communities of the Group in order to improve the sharing of knowledge, know-how and their capitalisation
  • Supporting the Projects in their migration to the new E2 solutions.
  • Facilitate and lead technical reviews, workshops, peer reviews, and project reviews as required by the program.
  • Ensure delivery in accordance with Thales processes and practices, actively contributing to their continuous improvement
  • Support Discipline Managers in defining, tailoring and deploying project-specific processes, methods and tools in alignment with the AMS E2 global framework
  • Collaborate closely with the AMS E2 Manager to support project delivery and operational consistency across the geographic footprint
  • Support the Tools Technical Events Boards (TEB) and Change Control Boards (CCB)
  • Support all teams across the project
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Communicate, analyse, plan, and report as necessary to align team capabilities with internal program requirements
  • Ensure clear and effective communication (both written and verbal)
  • Manage E2 scope in line with agreed scope of work
  • Risk, Quality & Reporting
  • Identify and assess risks, propose effective solutions, execute mitigation actions, and report on outcomes, cost savings, and residual risks
  • Support the E2M in defining and maintaining metrics to monitor progress, measure performance, identify issues early, and support informed decision-making to ensure successful delivery
  • Support the preparation of monthly Technical and Financial Reviews (TFR) sessions
  • Commercial & Bid Support
  • Support bid activities and contribute to the preparation and review of engineering cost estimates for modification proposals to the functional baseline
  • Self and Team Improvement
  • Keep up-to-date with evolutions in technology, processes and methodologies (DataOps, DevOps, DevSecOps, Containerisation, AWS, Azure, eTUP, Wiki corporate, Lean, Agile, Chorus2.0 etc.) which are applicable to our tools and processes and to suggest ways to incorporate these innovations into the business
  • Mentor and upskill team members

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Qualifications

· Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or other relevant qualification

Essential Experience

· Solid experience working in a complex software centric environment (7+ years)

· Strong understanding of the entire Software Development Lifecycle

· Good exposure and working knowledge across a variety of DevSecOps toolkits, including Ansible, Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Terraform, Git/Version Control Software, or comparable technologies

· Experience with Azure

· Experienced with Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management and Containerisation

· System Optimisation - ability to balance workloads between cloud and on-premise environments

· Cross-functional Collaboration - work with developers, DevSecOps teams, and business stakeholders

· Problem-Solving& Innovation - ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement efficient solutions.

· Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders across a complex environment

· Solid experience in upskilling and training new engineers

· Strong ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including Project, Engineering Delivery Managers, Product Owners, Technical Design Authorities, Speciality engineers and the engineering team under management.

· Experience in product delivery using agile methodologies like Lean methods (including PDCA, Kanban, Value-Stream Mapping). Prior experience working in an Agile@Scale framework is a bonus

· Collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence etc.

Desirable:

· Agile software development

· Cloud networking skills

· Cyber security knowledge (i.e. the latest risk assessment techniques, threat modelling approaches, cybersecurity threats, and best practices)
