About this job

Responsibilities

• Develop offshore HVAC/HVDC electrical system concepts and define overall platform electrical architecture during Concept Select and FEED phases.

• Perform system-level design and engineering for offshore HVDC and HVAC substations, including power generation/distribution philosophy, auxiliary systems, emergency power systems, load flow philosophy, redundancy philosophy, and operational modes.

• Design and engineer HV, MV, and LV electrical systems for offshore substations, converter platforms, and associated offshore energy facilities.

• Prepare and review FEED deliverables including single line diagrams (SLDs), protection philosophies, electrical load lists, equipment sizing calculations, earthing studies, harmonic assessments, short circuit studies, transient studies, cable sizing, and power system studies.

• Interface with grid operators, OEMs, clients, certifying authorities, and classification societies on technical compliance and system integration matters.

• Define technical specifications and procurement requirements for major electrical equipment packages including GIS switchgear, HVDC converter systems, transformers, reactors, HV/MV/LV switchboards, UPS systems, VFDs, protection systems, and automation systems.

• Lead technical bid evaluations (TBE), vendor design reviews, FAT/SAT activities, and technical clarifications for electrical equipment packages.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary integration across electrical, control, telecom, mechanical,HVAC, safety, and structural disciplines to ensure successful platform integration.

• Support electrical safety engineering activities including hazardous areaconsiderations, arc flash assessments, protection coordination, functional safety interfaces, and electrical risk assessments.

• Ensure compliance with offshore and utility standards including IEC, IEEE, DNV,NORSOK, ENA, TenneT specifications, and applicable offshore grid connection requirements.

• Support construction, commissioning, energization, and offshore hook-up activities including troubleshooting, system verification, and performance validation.

• Participate in design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP workshops, constructability reviews, operability assessments, and lessons learned processes throughout project execution.

• Liaise with Certified Verification Agents (DNV, BV etc)and Designer to close all outstanding issues.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronic Engineering from are recognised university; Master’s degree in Power Systems or High Voltage Engineering is advantageous.

· Minimum 8 years of experience in high voltage electrical systems engineering, with at least 3years directly involved in offshore substation projects (HVAC and/or HVDC), covering Concept, FEED, detailed engineering, integration, testing, and commissioning phases.

· Demonstrated experience in offshore HVAC/HVDC platform electrical system design includingHV, MV, and LV distribution systems, auxiliary systems, protection systems, earthing and bonding, emergency power systems, and electrical system integration.

· Experience in Concept Select and FEED development for offshore substations, including preparation and review of electrical philosophies, SLDs, load lists, equipment sizing calculations, power system studies, and technical specifications.

· Strong understanding of offshore HVDC transmission systems, converter station architecture, and associated AC/DC system interfaces, including familiarity with Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) technology and offshore grid integration requirements.

· Working knowledgeof applicable international standards and offshore utility requirements including IEC 61936, IEC 62271, IEC 60076, IEC 61892, IEC 61400 series, IEC60255, IEC 62305, IEEE standards, DNV offshore standards, and applicable gridcodes (e.g. TenneT, NG ESO, BSH).

· Experience in power system studies and electrical analyses including load flow, short-circuit, transient stability, harmonic analysis, protection coordination, earthing studies, and arc flash assessments.

· Proficiency in engineering software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD,MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent power system modelling and simulation tools.

· Experience in technical management of major electrical equipment packages including HVDCconverters, transformers, reactors, GIS/AIS switchgear, STATCOMs, harmonicfilters, UPS systems, and protection/control systems.

· Familiarity with offshore platform integration, multidisciplinary coordination, vendor management, FAT/SAT execution, and offshore commissioning activities.

· Experience interfacing with clients, OEMs, classification societies, certifying authorities, and grid operators during project execution and technical reviews.

· Strong technical reporting, engineering coordination, and stakeholder management skills with ability to support multidisciplinary offshore EPC project execution.
