Role Overview

As a Senior Bartender, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the quality and standards of our bar while supporting the team through daily operations and service.

You’ll be hands-on behind the bar while taking greater responsibility for drink quality, team development, bar organisation and service standards. You’ll work closely with the management team to ensure the bar runs smoothly and consistently, while contributing ideas to improve our drinks offering and guest experience.

This role is suited to an experienced bartender who leads by example, stays calm under pressure and takes pride in developing both their craft and the people around them.

Key Responsibilities

Drinks & Bar Operations

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages to a consistently high standard
  • Maintain quality, consistency, presentation and speed across all drinks service
  • Ensure bar recipes, SOPs and preparation standards are followed consistently
  • Take responsibility for bar mise en place and overall readiness before service
  • Monitor the quality and consistency of drinks throughout service
  • Support smooth opening, service and closing operations
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and equipment upkeep

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead by example during service and support the wider bar team
  • Guide, train and mentor junior bartenders and bar team members
  • Support team members with cocktail preparation, product knowledge and service standards
  • Help maintain consistent bar practices across the team
  • Assist with shift coordination and task allocation where required
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful and productive bar environment

Guest Experience

  • Provide warm, knowledgeable and attentive service to guests
  • Confidently recommend cocktails, spirits, wine and other beverages based on guest preferences
  • Help create an engaging and welcoming bar atmosphere
  • Handle guest requests and feedback professionally
  • Work closely with the service and kitchen teams to ensure smooth service
  • Maintain high service standards during busy periods

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Assist with beverage inventory management, ordering and stock replenishment
  • Monitor stock levels, usage and wastage
  • Support proper stock rotation and storage
  • Assist with supplier coordination where required
  • Help maintain responsible portioning and beverage cost control

Menu & Bar Development

  • Support management with seasonal drinks, menu updates and new product introductions
  • Contribute ideas for cocktails and improvements to the drinks programme
  • Assist with testing and implementing new drinks consistently across the team
  • Stay informed about relevant drinks, cocktail and hospitality trends

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure proper food and beverage hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards are maintained
  • Follow responsible alcohol service practices and applicable regulations
  • Ensure bar procedures and standards are consistently followed

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant bartending experience, with previous senior or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine and other beverages
  • Strong technical skills in cocktail preparation and bar service
  • Good understanding of bar operations, inventory and cost control
  • Confident in training and guiding junior team members
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to lead by example and maintain standards during busy service
  • Organised, reliable and attentive to detail
  • Creative and willing to contribute ideas to the drinks programme
  • Calm under pressure with a positive and hands-on approach
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
