Job Summary

We are looking for a Research Engineer supporting the development of mobility and transportation simulation solutions, digital twin platforms, and AI-enabled optimisation technologies. During this 7-month contract, you will work with researchers and engineers on simulation modelling, software development, data analysis, prototyping, demonstrations, and research initiatives addressing urban mobility, logistics, and infrastructure challenges.

Mandatory Skill-set

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply;
  • Experience with AnyLogic and knowledge of discrete-event / agent-based simulation;
  • Experience in web application development and API integration;
  • Experience with GIS tools such as ArcGIS/QGIS and geospatial formats such as GeoJSON, Shapefile, or OpenStreetMap;
  • Proficiency in Java and Python;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Desired Skill-set

  • Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and data management;
  • Knowledge of AI/ML and optimisation;
  • Experience with 3D simulation/digital twin platforms such as Unity, Omniverse, or Cesium;
  • Familiarity with Tableau/Qlik or other visualisation tools;
  • Experience in mobility, transportation, logistics, smart city, or infrastructure projects;
  • Experience in research, POC, or prototype development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and configure mesoscopic and microscopic simulation models and workflows.
  • Develop software modules, scripts, and supporting functions for simulation, analysis, and visualisation.
  • Process, analyse, and visualise simulation data and support result validation and optimisation.
  • Conduct testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Support AI/ML integration, prototypes, demonstrations, and exhibition systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and project stakeholders on solution design and implementation.
  • Maintain version control and documentation of models, workflows, and development activities.
  • Keep updated on emerging technologies in mobility, simulation, digital twins, and AI.
