Business Analyst (Asset Management )
About this job
We are seeking a Business Analyst to support portfolio management, trading systems, and front-office investment processes within the Portfolio Management & Analytics function.
The successful candidate will work closely with portfolio managers, technology teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to enhance and support investment management systems and workflows. This role will involve business analysis, project delivery, process improvement, testing, production support, and stakeholder management across the investment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Solution Delivery
- Partner with portfolio managers and business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications, and communicate technical solutions to business users.
- Collaborate with in-house technology teams, risk teams, finance teams, and external service providers to design, develop, test, and implement solutions supporting front-office investment workflows.
- Support the evaluation, enhancement, and implementation of portfolio management, trading, and investment-related systems.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop and execute test plans for system upgrades, enhancements, and new implementations.
- Coordinate and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Validate business requirements and ensure solutions meet operational and business needs.
- Support resolution of defects and issues identified during testing.
Process Improvement & Change Management
- Review and optimise front-office workflows, processes, and user experiences.
- Support change management initiatives to facilitate the adoption of new products, systems, and processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and automate manual processes.
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic technology and business roadmaps.
Operational Support
- Monitor, analyse, and troubleshoot front-office processes and applications to ensure smooth operations.
- Work with internal technology teams and external vendors to investigate and resolve production issues.
- Ensure business processes comply with organisational standards for data integrity, security, controls, and auditability.
- Support incident management and continuous service improvement activities.
Documentation & Governance
- Develop and maintain business requirement documents, user guides, process documentation, and operating procedures.
- Maintain project documentation and tracking of key deliverables.
- Support governance activities, project reporting, and stakeholder communications.
Vendor & Project Management
- Coordinate project delivery activities with vendors and external service providers.
- Support procurement-related and vendor management activities where required.
- Track project timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
- Manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently while maintaining delivery quality and timelines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in business analysis, product management, systems implementation, or investment operations environments.
- Experience supporting investment management, portfolio management, trading, treasury, capital markets, or asset management functions.
- Experience participating in system implementation, enhancement, migration, or transformation projects.
- Experience developing test plans and managing testing activities for technology projects.
- Experience creating and maintaining business and system documentation.
- Knowledge of investment management systems such as Murex, SimCorp Dimension, BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of investment lifecycle processes and public markets transaction workflows.
- Familiarity with fixed income, foreign exchange, or other capital markets products is advantageous.
- Knowledge of system implementation methodologies, testing practices, and change management processes.
