Platform Operations Engineer (Azure)

We are looking for an experienced Platform Operations Engineer to support and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure and platform services in a highly governed environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, performance and scalability of cloud and Windows Server platforms, while supporting infrastructure modernisation and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, Windows Server platforms, compute, storage, virtualisation and related services across development, staging and production environments.
- Monitor platform availability, capacity and performance, and proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Implement infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Support infrastructure upgrades, modernisation, workload migrations and onboarding of applications onto cloud platforms.
- Perform Windows Server administration, including Active Directory integration, Group Policy, certificates, security hardening and patch management.
- Implement and maintain monitoring and observability solutions using Azure Monitor, Dynatrace, ELK or similar tools.
- Perform regular patching, vulnerability remediation and security compliance activities.
- Provide L2/L3 infrastructure support, troubleshoot complex incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
- Support Docker and Kubernetes environments where applicable.
- Manage and maintain backup, disaster recovery (DR) and high-availability solutions, including periodic DR testing.
- Support cloud networking configurations including private endpoints, NSGs/ASGs and hub-spoke/landing-zone architectures.
- Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to improve platform stability, scalability and performance.
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, architecture diagrams, patching records, vulnerability logs and audit evidence.
- Support security and governance requirements, including access management, infrastructure hardening and audit/compliance activities.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing on cloud and modern infrastructure operations.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, cloud or platform operations.
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure environments in production.
- Strong experience with Windows Server administration; Linux administration experience is advantageous.
- Good knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, certificates, server hardening and patch management.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or Ansible for infrastructure automation.
- Experience with SAN/NAS, Azure Storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with monitoring and security tools such as Azure Monitor, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Dynatrace or ELK.
- Good understanding of cloud and enterprise networking concepts.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python and/or Bash.
- Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, vulnerability management and VAPT remediation.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, version control and controlled infrastructure deployments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience working in a highly regulated or government cloud environment will be advantageous.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.

- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- ITIL v4 Foundation
