Job Summary
As an Assistant Cost Manager in Project & Development Services, you will support project success from tendering through completion across diverse sectors, managing multiple projects concurrently while ensuring budget and timeline adherence.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tender pricing and detailed cost estimations to support competitive bidding and project budgeting
- Source and evaluate quotations from suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to inform cost comparisons
- Review tender documents, specifications, and drawings to accurately perform quantity takeoffs
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to adjust cost estimates based on project changes
- Compile Bills of Quantity, tender documents, amendments, and submit tender bids in compliance with project requirements
- Negotiate prices with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective procurement
- Evaluate contract and subcontract works and manage contract administration with clients and vendors
- Maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems to track project expenditures and prepare purchase orders
- Verify supplier invoices for payment accuracy and manage procurement processes using JLL’s cloud-based platform
- Research and evaluate prospective suppliers to expand and maintain a qualified vendor pool aligned with JLL standards
- Onboard and pre-qualify vendors to ensure compliance with company requirements
- Foster positive relationships with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to support project delivery
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating with vendors to prevent downtime and ensure timely progress
- Prepare project specifications, timelines, tender/bid documents, and weekly project reports for stakeholders
- Adapt and perform effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and high expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project and team objectives
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in Interior Fit-out works
- Degree or diploma in a relevant field and/or 1-2 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Interior Design, Design & Build, or Contractor firms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with technology platforms
- Strong communication and negotiation skills applied in project and vendor management
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills to support cost control and project decision-making
- Attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
