Service Engineer, Marine Mechanical

About the team

The incumbent needs to provide technical service support for ZF Marine mechanical systems onboard vessels and in shipyards, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ZF Marine mechanical systems, including thrusters and shaft line systems.
• Conduct inspections and technical assessments of mechanical equipment onboard vessels and at shipyards.
• Diagnose equipment issues and implement effective corrective actions.
• Travel locally and within the region to execute on-site service assignments.
• Ensure all service work complies with approved drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Prepare and submit accurate service reports upon completion of jobs.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with customers, vessel crews, shipyard personnel, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Support spare parts identification, service planning, and continuous improvement of service processes and documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in marine mechanical systems, shipyards, or field service operations.
• Familiarity with marine propulsion systems, thrusters, shaft lines, and related mechanical equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word.
• Able to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to travel regularly for service assignments.
