Pastoral Care Officer
Contract Position | CCK
Contract Period: 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027
Extension Option: Up to one additional year
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, including a 1-hour lunch break
Friday: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, including a 1-hour lunch break
No work on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
Working hours may be adjusted according to the school’s requirements without changing the total hours
Job Responsibilities
Student Befriending and Mentoring
Serve as a dedicated befriender and mentor to high-needs students.
Provide one-to-one guidance, encouragement and emotional support.
Support on-the-ground student management and discipline.
Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
Case Management and Follow-Up
Assist with fact-finding and student case management.
Engage students and parents regarding concerns and interventions.
Coordinate follow-up actions with relevant school personnel.
Monitor students’ behaviour, well-being and progress.
Prepare and maintain accurate student case reports.
Social-Emotional and Behavioural Support
Plan and conduct motivational talks to build students’ confidence and resilience.
Support students in developing a positive attitude towards school.
Monitor students and encourage the completion of homework.
Promote positive behaviour during daily school routines and activities.
Assist with student discipline when required.
Student Well-Being and Engagement
Lead simple and age-appropriate physical exercises or light activities.
Encourage students’ mental, emotional and physical well-being.
Provide guidance to students experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.
Parent and School Collaboration
Engage parents as part of case management and student follow-up.
Coordinate with teachers and relevant school personnel on student concerns.
Support the implementation and monitoring of student interventions.
School Programmes and Administration
Support student discipline and well-being during school events.
Assist during Speech Day, Games Day, level camps and other school programmes.
Perform general administrative and office-related duties.
Carry out other duties assigned by the school.
Sign an undertaking to protect and safeguard official information.
Requirements
Minimum Diploma in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or a related discipline.
Experience in youth work, student support or social services is preferred.
Previous experience working in a school environment is preferred.
Able to mentor, guide and communicate effectively with primary school students.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to engage students and parents professionally.
Patient, responsible, resilient and emotionally mature.
Capable of maintaining accurate and confidential case records.
Basic First Aid, Mental Health First Aid or crisis de-escalation certification is an advantage.
