Job Summary
The Structural Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all welding, piping, structural fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, client requirements, international codes, and quality standards. The role supports our client with their FPSO drydock exercise by conducting inspections, coordinating quality activities, and ensuring full compliance with Inspection and Test Plans.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Inspection
- Inspect structural fabrication and assembly activities.
- Verify dimensional control, alignment, and installation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with structural drawings and specifications.
- Witness load-out and structural testing activities where required.
NDT & Testing Coordination
- Coordinate and witness: Radiographic Testing (RT)Ultrasonic Testing (UT)Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)Positive Material Identification (PMI)Ferrite Testing Heat Treatment (HT).
- Review NDT reports and maintain inspection records.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Perform QA/QC inspections for structural steel, piping systems, pressure systems, and welding activities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, procedures, client requirements, and applicable international standards.
- Review drawings, specifications, procedures, material certificates, and quality documentation.
- Verify implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures.
- Monitor fabrication, erection, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Welding Inspection
- Conduct welding inspections including: Material verification, Fit-up inspection Visual inspection Weld profile verification Final acceptance inspection.
- Verify compliance with approved WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
- Coordinate and witness welder qualification tests (WQT).
- Monitor welding parameters and consumable control.
- Review welding records and inspection reports.
Piping Inspection
- Carry out piping inspections during fabrication and installation.
- Perform line checks and reinstatement verification.
- Witness and verify: Hydrostatic tests, Pneumatic tests, Vacuum tests, Leak tests, Flushing and cleaning activities.
- Conduct inspection for various material grades.
- Prepare inspection reports and quality records.
- Maintain material traceability records and inspection status.
- Ensure all QA/QC documentation is completed and properly filed.
- Participate in quality meetings and client inspections.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, commissioning, and client representatives.
