Job Purpose:

The Project Engineer (Fire Alarm / Electrical) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing fire alarm and electrical system projects from initiation to completion. This includes design review, installation supervision, testing & commissioning, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Coordination

• Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and main contractors to ensure smooth project execution.

• Prepare technical drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals for approval.

2. Installation & Supervision

• Supervise site installation works for fire alarm and electrical systems.

• Ensure installation works are carried out in accordance with design, safety standards, and regulatory codes.

• Conduct site inspections and resolve technical/site issues.

3. Testing & Commissioning

• Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fire alarm and electrical systems.

• Liaise with authorities (e.g., Fire Department, Electrical Inspectorate) for inspections and approvals.

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare project progress reports, method statements, and risk assessments.

• Maintain proper documentation for drawings, approvals, and test reports.

• Monitor project cost and control variations within budget.

5. Compliance & Quality

• Ensure all work complies with local fire safety, electrical, and building codes.

• Implement quality assurance and safety procedures on site.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in fire alarm, electrical, or M&E projects (fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles).

• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, control panels, wiring, and electrical installations.

• Familiarity with NFPA, BS, MS, and local authority standards/regulations.

• Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willing to travel and work at project sites as required.

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage):

• Experience in AutoCAD, BIM, or other design/drafting tools.

• Hands-on knowledge of fire alarm brands (e.g., Notifier, Honeywell, Siemens, etc.).

• Registered with relevant local authority (if applicable).
