Marine Superintendent

Responsibilities

  • Verify vessel compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, Company policies, IMO/SOLAS/MARPOL, Flag State, and industry standards during assigned vessel visits
  • Conduct annual Internal Vessel Inspections and Navigational, Cargo, and Mooring Audits to ensure operational safety and compliance
  • Monitor and follow up on deficiencies, non-conformities, and corrective actions from internal and external audits and inspections to maintain vessel standards
  • Coordinate SIRE 2.0 and other vetting inspections, ensuring timely closure of observations to uphold vessel vetting status
  • Track vessel certificates and survey due dates to ensure all documentation remains valid and up to date
  • Support vessels with navigational, cargo, and other marine operational matters to optimize safe and efficient operations
  • Investigate and report vessel casualties and incidents promptly to facilitate root cause analysis and corrective measures
  • Stay current with marine safety and environmental regulations to ensure compliance and best practices
  • Conduct interviews and assessments for Deck Officers to evaluate competency and suitability
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals

Required competencies and certifications

  • Class 1 Deck Officer Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner) or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant sea-going experience as a Senior Deck Officer, preferably with experience as Master

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • 2–3 years of shore-based experience in a Marine Superintendent or similar role
  • Knowledge of ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, SIRE 2.0, and Flag State requirements
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel and attend vessels as required

Other Information

  • Salary: SGD 7,500 – SGD 10,000 per month, depending on experience and qualifications
