Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise technicians during engine overhaul, repair and maintenance activities.
  • Perform complete dismantling, inspection, measurement, repair and reassembly of four-stroke diesel engines.
  • Overhaul major engine components, including cylinder heads, pistons, liners, connecting rods, crankshafts, bearings, fuel pumps and turbochargers.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and determine the appropriate repair or replacement work required.
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings, specifications and overhaul procedures.
  • Inspect engine components for wear, damage and compliance with allowable tolerances.
  • Allocate daily work, provide technical guidance and monitor the performance of technicians.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to quality, safety and operational requirements.
  • Conduct engine testing, commissioning and troubleshooting following overhaul or repair.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, inspection findings, measurements and parts records.
  • Coordinate with customers, vessel representatives and internal teams regarding work progress.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and replacement parts are properly used and maintained.
  • Attend harbour craft and yachts for onboard repair, servicing and troubleshooting when required.
  • Support emergency service assignments and work outside regular hours when necessary.

Requirements

  • NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma or relevant technical qualification in Automotive, Mechanical, Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience in the overhaul and repair of bus, truck, heavy-vehicle or industrial four-stroke diesel engines.
  • Good understanding of diesel-engine components, clearances, measurements and overhaul procedures.
  • Experience leading technicians or mechanics in a workshop environment.
  • Able to diagnose engine faults and carry out major mechanical repairs independently.
  • Familiarity with precision-measuring tools and engine-testing equipment.
  • Marine-engine experience involving harbour craft, yachts or similar vessels would be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Physically fit and comfortable performing hands-on mechanical work.
  • Willing to work onboard vessels, overtime or irregular hours when operationally required.
