Data Administrator (Azure) - SPZW

Location: Central (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-Time Contract (Renewable basis)

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Perform database provisioning, patching, backup, restore, high availability and disaster recovery activities.
• Execute T-SQL scripts, stored procedures and scheduled jobs for production and non-production environments.
• Monitor and optimise database performance, capacity, security and availability.
• Perform query tuning, index maintenance, statistics updates and integrity checks.
• Configure database monitoring and alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Microsoft Defender for SQL.
• Manage database security, access controls, encryption and audit requirements.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, change records and recovery procedures.
• Support compliance with GCC Azure, IM8, PDPA and organisational security standards.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of database administration experience, preferably with SQL Server 2016 or later.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and/or SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, Query Store, DMVs and SQL performance tuning.
• Experience with backup/recovery, Always On Availability Groups, failover and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of SQL Server security features, RBAC and database hardening.
• Familiarity with Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Defender for SQL, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics is advantageous.
• Prior experience in GCC Azure, government or regulated environments is greatly advantageous.
• Relevant Azure/database certifications such as AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate will be advantageous
