Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Piping Engineer to support the engineering, construction, installation and site execution activities for a major infrastructure and process facility project located in Tuas, Singapore.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting piping installation, technical coordination, inspection, testing and completion activities across the project. The role will involve close coordination with construction teams, engineering disciplines, contractors, vendors and project stakeholders to ensure piping systems are installed and completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes and project requirements.

Candidates with experience in power plants, waste-to-energy facilities, process plants, petrochemical facilities, utilities, industrial plants, EPC projects or similar large-scale projects are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate piping engineering, construction and installation activities across the project.
  • Review piping engineering documents including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), piping layouts, General Arrangement drawings, isometric drawings, plot plans and piping specifications.
  • Ensure piping installation is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, project requirements and applicable engineering standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and monitor piping installation progress, quality and workmanship.
  • Coordinate installation of process piping, utility piping and associated piping systems.
  • Review piping routing and identify potential clashes, accessibility issues and constructability concerns.
  • Provide technical support and clarification to site supervisors, contractors and subcontractors during construction.
  • Review piping isometric drawings and verify actual site installation against approved drawings.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation and process disciplines to resolve interface issues.
  • Support installation and inspection of pipes, valves, fittings, flanges, supports and other piping components.
  • Review and coordinate piping support installation including standard and special pipe supports.
  • Monitor fabrication, erection and installation of piping systems.
  • Coordinate with piping fabrication shops and site construction teams where required.
  • Verify piping materials and components against approved specifications and project requirements.
  • Support material take-off, material control and identification of piping material requirements where necessary.
  • Review and resolve technical queries, site queries and construction-related issues.
  • Raise and/or support resolution of Technical Queries (TQ), Requests for Information (RFI) and site technical issues.
  • Support piping modification and field-routing activities where required.
  • Review and maintain red-line drawings and support preparation of final as-built documentation.
  • Participate in piping system walkdowns and identify outstanding construction and quality items.
  • Prepare and manage piping punch lists and coordinate closure of outstanding items.
  • Support mechanical completion and system handover activities.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC personnel for inspection and acceptance of piping installation.
  • Support inspection of piping fabrication, welding, fit-up and installation activities.
  • Coordinate NDT requirements and inspection activities with the relevant QA/QC teams where applicable.
  • Support pressure testing activities including hydrostatic and pneumatic testing where applicable.
  • Review test packages and ensure systems are ready for pressure testing.
  • Support piping flushing, cleaning, blowing and reinstatement activities as required.
  • Ensure correct installation and orientation of valves, inline equipment and piping components.
  • Support piping tie-in activities and coordinate shutdown/tie-in requirements where applicable.
  • Liaise with equipment vendors regarding piping interfaces for pumps, tanks, vessels, boilers, heat exchangers and other mechanical equipment.
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams during system completion and handover.
  • Attend construction, engineering and coordination meetings as required.
  • Monitor contractor progress and provide regular updates regarding piping construction activities.
  • Ensure all piping activities comply with project Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, risk assessments and site safety activities.
  • Ensure work is performed according to approved method statements, risk assessments and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering, construction and completion documentation throughout the project.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years or more of relevant piping engineering, construction or project experience preferred.
  • Strong practical experience with piping systems within power generation, waste-to-energy, process plants, utilities, petrochemical, oil & gas, industrial or EPC projects.
  • Good understanding of piping construction, installation and engineering practices.
  • Able to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, GA drawings, piping layouts and engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of piping materials, fittings, flanges, valves and pipe supports.
  • Familiarity with piping fabrication, erection, welding and inspection activities.
  • Knowledge of piping pressure testing, hydrotesting, flushing and system reinstatement would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with relevant piping engineering codes and standards such as ASME B31 series or equivalent applicable standards.
  • Experience coordinating piping interfaces with mechanical equipment such as pumps, tanks, vessels, boilers, heat exchangers and rotating equipment would be advantageous.
  • Experience supporting mechanical completion, system walkdowns, punch-list management and handover activities preferred.
  • Previous site-based experience on a large construction or commissioning project is highly desirable.
  • Able to coordinate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, engineering teams, vendors and client representatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and project quality requirements.
  • Willing and able to work on-site in Tuas, Singapore.
