Company Overview

Our client is a Singapore-based company operating within the defence and ammunition industry, supporting specialised products and operations within a regulated and highly controlled business environment.

They are looking for a hands-on Accountant to join their in-house finance team and manage the company's day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting and statutory requirements.

Role Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and handling a broad range of accounting functions, including full-set accounts, month-end closing, reconciliations, financial reporting, GST and audit support.

This role is suitable for someone with at least 3 years of practical accounting experience who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of recurring finance and accounting matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle and maintain full sets of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure accounts are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare bank, balance sheet and other account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor cash flow, payments, receivables and other day-to-day financial transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, inventory and relevant accounting schedules.
  • Prepare and support GST submissions, corporate tax schedules and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretaries and other professional service providers where required.
  • Support annual audits by preparing schedules, documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Ensure accounting records and supporting documents are properly maintained in accordance with internal policies and applicable accounting requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate financial controls and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions for follow-up.
  • Support budgeting, financial analysis and other finance-related projects as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with hands-on responsibility for full-set accounts.
  • Good understanding of financial accounting, month-end closing, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), GST and basic corporate tax requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with accounting software or ERP systems.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, costing, manufacturing, trading, distribution or engineering-related businesses would be advantageous.
  • ACCA, Singapore CA or other recognised professional accounting qualifications would be advantageous but are not mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Able to work independently, manage deadlines and take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills when working with internal stakeholders and external professional parties.

Salary: Commensurate with experience (can go higher depending on years of experience & interview performance)
