Job Summary
The Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, invites applications for the Stephen Brogan–Jones Day Legal Fellow, a prestigious research appointment hosted through the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS). This fellowship supports advanced legal research on issues relating to the rule of law, coupled with engagement with the Singapore legal community. The Fellow will conduct independent research, present findings to academic and professional audiences, and actively contribute to seminars and workshops at NUS Law. Job Responsibilities
· Conduct high-quality, independent research on legal topics focused on the rule of law.
· Prepare and deliver a public seminar or lecture relevant to both students and members of the legal profession in Singapore (Singapore Institute of Legal Education/SILE-certified).
· Engage with faculty members, students, and the broader legal community through discussions, workshops, roundtables, and related academic activities.
· Participate in Centre for Asian Legal Studies and NUS Law events, enhancing scholarly dialogue and practical engagement on rule of law issues.
· Acknowledge support of the Jones Day Foundation and NUS Law / CALS in all fellowship-related outputs and publications.
Requirements
· PhD in Law or equivalent terminal degree with demonstrable excellence in legal scholarship.
· Established track record of legal research, publication, or professional practice demonstrating deep engagement with issues related to the rule of law.
· Significant post-doctoral experience — either as an academic, senior practitioner, or judge — with a strong reputation in legal scholarship or professional practice.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to present research to academic and professional audiences.
· Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students and external legal communities.
