About the Role
We are looking for a Head of Engineering – AI Platform to take technical ownership of Vetta and lead the next stage of its development.

Reporting directly to the Director of Digital Transformation, you will own the platform architecture, engineering roadmap and technical team as Vetta evolves into a scalable enterprise AI platform.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You should be comfortable both defining architecture and working directly with engineers on complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Own Vetta’s end-to-end technical architecture and engineering roadmap.
• Lead development of scalable, enterprise-grade AI and SaaS capabilities.
• Design and implement agentic AI workflows using LLMs, tool calling, structured outputs and human-in-the-loop patterns.
• Develop a model-agnostic architecture capable of supporting multiple AI providers.
• Strengthen platform reliability, performance, security, observability and scalability.
• Lead backend services, APIs, data pipelines and enterprise integrations.
• Establish strong engineering practices across CI/CD, testing, code review and monitoring.
• Build evaluation frameworks for AI and agent performance.
• Own enterprise architecture requirements including RBAC, auditability, tenant isolation and data protection.
• Guide future ATS, HRIS and enterprise system integrations.
• Work closely with product and commercial leadership to translate customer requirements into scalable product capabilities.
• Build and lead the internal engineering team as the platform grows.
• Support enterprise technical discussions, evaluations and deployments.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience leading engineering teams or owning major technical architecture decisions.
• Strong hands-on experience building and operating production SaaS platforms.
• Strong backend engineering experience, preferably with Python and modern API frameworks.
• Practical experience building AI/LLM applications using agents, tool calling, RAG, structured outputs and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, APIs, databases and distributed systems.
• Experience with authentication, RBAC, audit logging and enterprise security.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and production operations.
• Strong product judgement and ability to make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions.
• Strong communication skills with both technical teams and enterprise stakeholders.

Preferred

• Experience in AI-native SaaS, HR technology, recruitment technology or enterprise workflow platforms.
• Experience integrating with ATS or HRIS platforms.
• Experience with multiple LLM providers or model-routing architectures.
• Experience building agentic systems in production.
• Experience with embeddings, vector databases and semantic search.
• Experience in regulated environments such as banking, government or healthcare.
• Previous experience as a Staff Engineer, Engineering Lead, Head of Engineering or similar technical leadership role.

We are looking for someone who combines technical depth, applied AI expertise, product judgement, enterprise architecture thinking and leadership.

This is not a pure management role. The successful candidate should remain technically hands-on and be capable of reviewing architecture, debugging complex issues and guiding implementation directly.
