Utility Engineer | Lead RO, WFI & Critical GMP Utilities #HDC1
About this job
Drive Reliability, Compliance & Performance of Critical Utility Systems
Are you an experienced engineer with hands-on expertise in RO, WFI, clean steam, and critical utility systems?
We are looking for a Utility Engineer to join an engineering team supporting essential utility infrastructure within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical utility systems, lead technical investigations, manage engineering changes, and contribute to projects that improve system reliability and operational performance.
Working closely with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams, you will help ensure critical utilities remain reliable, compliant, well-controlled, and fit for manufacturing requirements.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Provide engineering oversight and technical support for critical utility systems, including Reverse Osmosis (RO), Water for Injection (WFI), clean steam, and other associated clean utilities.
- Take ownership of change control activities relating to utility projects, including the installation, modification, enhancement, and upgrade of RO, WFI, and related systems.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, reliability, and overall performance of critical utility equipment.
- Lead and support investigations into utility-related deviations and events using TrackWise, ensuring investigations are properly documented and follow-up actions are completed.
- Conduct detailed troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures, system abnormalities, and operational issues.
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to identify appropriate corrective and preventive actions and drive timely resolution of technical issues.
- Support utility engineering projects from initial planning through implementation, ensuring technical specifications and applicable GMP requirements are addressed.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve utility reliability, operational efficiency, system performance, and compliance.
- Ensure critical utility systems remain in a state of control and aligned with site engineering standards and regulatory expectations.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline, or higher.
- 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience in utilities, facilities, manufacturing, or a related environment.
- Hands-on experience with Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems is essential.
- Practical knowledge of WFI, clean steam, and other critical or clean utility systems.
- Strong understanding of utility equipment operation, maintenance, reliability, and troubleshooting.
- Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated environment is essential; pharmaceutical industry experience is not mandatory.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, investigation, and root-cause analysis capabilities.
- Experience independently managing technical investigations, change controls, and engineering projects.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical activities and priorities effectively.
Why This Opportunity?
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Utility Engineer to expand their expertise across critical utilities, GMP compliance, technical investigations, change management, and engineering projects.
You will have a key role in maintaining the reliability and compliance of essential utility systems while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within a structured and highly regulated manufacturing environment.
If you are ready to take ownership of critical utility systems and make a direct impact on manufacturing reliability and compliance, we welcome your application.
