Job Overview
You will be deployed to our client who is a leading government technology agency driving digital transformation and innovation in the healthcare sector. The Associate Network Security Engineer supports and maintains infrastructure operations, monitors infrastructure performance and resolution of technical problems. He/She leads high impact projects, prioritises and assigns tasks to ensure that team’s resources are used effectively and that infrastructure projects are implemented in accordance with plans and budgets. Identify and resolve highly complex or specialised issues that may require the establishment of new techniques and processes. He/She anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends improvements. Required to be on standby with on-call availability with varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Apply a critical and analytical approach to resolving technical problems. Able to work well with the team and guide them to ensure infrastructure projects are well implemented.
Responsibilities
Project & Continuous Improvement:
- Support technical system analysis to determine the extent to which solutions perform “as required” to ensure that future solutions meet anticipated demand
- Support the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions that adhere to current architecture standards
- Lead the design installations, system migration and integration
- Lead the testing and handover of implemented infrastructure solution
Support infrastructure operations:
- Support delivery of optimal infrastructure operations
- Create documents on administration, installation, configuration and troubleshooting
- Apply diagnostic tools to perform technical analysis of complex software, hardware and infrastructure equipment
- Support the development of report on infrastructure capabilities and limitations
Maintain infrastructure:
- Perform activities related to ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure
- Assist with the implementation of agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines
- Develop report on performance and availability of infrastructure systems by review of service uptime, utilisation, throughput etc.
Optimise infrastructure performance:
- Perform ongoing tuning and optimisation of network infrastructure hardware and software components such as updates and upgrades
- Participate in infrastructure development activities
- Assist with infrastructure testing and implementation
- Gather performance and data usage statistics for capacity planning and reporting
- Assist with piloting of new tools, technologies, and/or processes
Resolve incidents:
- Support problem/issue identification and resolution
- Escalate problems/issues
- Support simulation of user problems to resolve operating difficulties
- Diagnose problem source through discussions with users
- Recommend system modifications to reduce user problems
- Support planned maintenance events, system backup processes and disaster recovery drills
- Support implementation of preventive solutions
Vendor management:
- Manage vendors & external parties to ensure deliveries & SLA
Requirements
- Bachelor in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- CCNA/CCNPcertification; ITIL v3/v4 certified preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Network Administration, IT infrastructure, network monitoring and incident management
- Experience in Firewall L2 support; Algosec experience is an advantage
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills
- Experience in tech refresh / new facility implementation is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of wired & wireless network technologies
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Switches, NAC, WLC and F5
- Minimum 1 year’s Enterprise Firewall experience, with Fortinet preferred
- Able to participatein 24/7 rotating standby with a team of 3 engineers
- Experience supporting KTLO and agency firewall operations
