Job Summary
Join BetaLife as a Research Associate to advance stem cell therapy for diabetes. Contribute to wet lab research and GMP operations within a dynamic team, driving innovation and growth in cell therapy development. You will be part of a close-knit team and will get to work closely with both team members and management to make key contributions to the company.
Responsibilities
- Isolate and process primary cells to support experimental workflows
- Reprogram, culture, and bank induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) to maintain high-quality cell lines
- Direct differentiation of iPSCs into pancreatic cells and other derivatives for research and therapeutic development
- Characterize cells and tissue samples using molecular biology techniques to validate research outcomes
- Translate non-clinical research processes and materials into scale up platforms and clinical manufacturing readiness
- Maintain accurate, organized records of experimental data and sample inventories
- Prepare and present research data and written reports to communicate findings effectively
- Participate in scientific and strategic discussions with senior management to guide project direction
- Manage laboratory documentation, records, and inventories to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to support research and operational needs
- Maintain reagents, consumables, and equipment to ensure laboratory readiness
- Perform general laboratory and administrative duties to support smooth daily operations
- Uphold GMP operations and quality systems, supporting audits and regulatory inspections
- Comply with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards
- Support overseas ventures by liaising with local teams, partners, and service providers, including preparing materials in Chinese as needed (optional)
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology or Life Science disciplines or equivalent from a reputable university (preferred)
- Commitment to the position for at least 2 years
- At least 1 year of prior research experience in the biomedical (wet lab) field
- Experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques
- Highly motivated and energetic, able to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills to multi-task, work independently, and collaborate within a team to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Availability to commence by Oct/Nov 2026
