ELECTRICAL DRAFTER

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Draftsman to prepare and update detailed electrical drawings and as-built documentation. You will conduct site visits, coordinate with project teams, and ensure accurate, practical drawing solutions for engineering and construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, layouts, schematics, shop drawings, and construction drawings using AutoCAD to support engineering and construction projects
• Update as-built electrical layouts based on site measurements and actual conditions to ensure documentation accuracy
• Develop 2D layouts and 3D models using AutoCAD and SketchUp to visualize electrical designs where required
• Interpret engineering drawings, hand sketches, technical specifications, and project requirements to produce precise technical drawings
• Conduct site surveys and inspections to verify existing conditions and collect data for drawing preparation
• Revise drawings based on engineering changes, site conditions, and project requirements to maintain up-to-date documentation
• Prepare detailed drawings for electrical installations, equipment placement, cable routing, containment, and related systems to guide construction
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop practical and accurate design solutions that meet project needs
• Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, as-built documentation, and project documents for easy retrieval and compliance
• Assist in preparing quantity take-offs, bills of materials, and material quantity assessments to support procurement and planning
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to resolve technical and drawing-related issues promptly
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards and requirements
• Support site supervision and project inspections by providing technical drawing expertise when required
• Provide procurement and material planning teams with relevant quantities and technical information to facilitate project execution
• Perform additional drafting, technical, and project-related duties as assigned to support project success

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical drafting, engineering drafting, construction, or M&E-related projects
• Diploma, Higher Nitec, Nitec, or equivalent qualification in Drafting Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, M&E, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
• Proficient in AutoCAD for preparing detailed 2D technical drawings and layouts
• Skilled in preparing as-built drawings and electrical layouts based on site conditions
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering documents, specifications, and hand-drawn sketches accurately
• Experience conducting site surveys and project/site inspections to collect data for drawings
• Knowledge of quantity surveying, material quantity take-offs, and preparation of bills of materials
• Strong understanding of construction and engineering drawing standards to ensure compliance
• High attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings to minimize errors
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Good communication and coordination skills to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience with piping layouts and construction-related drawings to enhance drawing versatility
• Knowledge of SketchUp and 3D modelling to support advanced visualization needs
• Experience in telecommunications infrastructure, electrical & instrumentation, structural works, or construction projects to add project-specific expertise
• Extensive practical drafting experience combining office-based drafting and site-related activities for comprehensive project support
• Strong background in construction drawings, as-built documentation, site surveys, and technical coordination to improve project outcomes
