Scientific Service Engineer - Entry Level [SAS]

About this job

  • Provide technical service and support for advanced scientific and analytical instruments, including Particle Size Analyzers, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Spectroscopy, ICP and other analytical systems.
  • Travel regionally to customer sites to perform installation, commissioning, calibration, validation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, customer training and other service assignments.
  • Ensure all service activities are carried out in accordance with company and customer quality standards, safety procedures and site regulations.
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service Administration, Regional Technical Experts and Service Engineers to ensure seamless service delivery and high service standards.
  • Prepare accurate and timely service quotations for repairs, preventive maintenance, spare parts and labour in response to customer enquiries across the region.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records and technical documentation following each service activity.
  • Liaise directly with overseas manufacturing factories and global technical support teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Conduct technical training for end users, including scientists, engineers, laboratory personnel and distributors, to ensure proper operation, maintenance and optimal performance of the instruments.
  • Provide professional technical support while building and maintaining strong customer relationships through effective problem-solving and service solutions.
  • Identify and develop service business opportunities, including preventive maintenance agreements, service contracts, instrument upgrades and spare parts sales, to support business growth and customer retention.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the immediate supervisor or Head of Department.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation/Controls or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant service engineering experience. Fresh graduates with relevant qualifications are welcome, as training will be provided.
  • Willingness to travel overseas to support regional customers; local travel is also required, with own transport preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset, with good customer service orientation and safe working practices.
  • Strong planning and time management skills, with the ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated and proactive.
  • Experience servicing scientific/analytical instruments such as Particle Size Analyzers, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Spectroscopy systems and/or ICP Spectrometers is advantageous.
