Overall Objective: Provide comprehensive structural engineering design, review, coordination and assurance services to support the client's project lifecycle for mission-critical data centre developments.

Key Service Activities:

  • Develop, review and provide technical assurance for structural engineering designs associated with data centre buildings, electrical yards, mechanical yards and wider campus infrastructure.

  • Review structural calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, models and technical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes and client requirements.

  • Review structural systems including reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, slabs, frames, equipment supports and specialist structural infrastructure.

  • Review and assess structural loading, equipment loads, vibration considerations, seismic requirements and structural interfaces with building systems and specialist equipment.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with relevant local and international structural engineering standards, codes and regulations.

  • Review structural engineering solutions for constructability, cost efficiency, programme impact, durability, resilience and long-term operational performance.

  • Review structural interfaces with architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical systems to ensure effective multidisciplinary coordination.

Design Review & Coordination:

  • Review and comment on structural drawings, calculations, models and design documentation using Google Workspace, BIM360, ACC and 3Dx cloud platforms.

  • Assess technical content, coordination and quality, identifying and escalating critical items affecting schedule, cost, constructability or project delivery to client consultants and contractors during design meetings.

  • Ensure structural designs comply with all client Standards, Guidelines, OPRs and Narratives.

Structural Systems & Interface Coordination:

  • Provide technical input into structural systems and solutions across the full data centre campus, including buildings, equipment structures, mechanical yards, electrical yards, substations and other supporting infrastructure.

  • Coordinate structural requirements with architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical disciplines and identify potential clashes or design risks at an early stage.

System Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify, suggest and document improvements to structural engineering systems and design solutions, focusing on technology adoption, cost efficiency, material optimisation, constructability, programme efficiency, sustainability, resilience and operational performance.

Defect Resolution & Project Closure:

  • Support the management of structural defects, punch-list items, site observations and outstanding works through to resolution.

  • Participate in final inspections and provide technical input required for formal project closure.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Provide regular updates and maintain comprehensive trackers of structural engineering issues, risks, design actions and mitigation measures.

  • Report all issues, progress and blocking items to the client's Technical Program Manager and Technical Lead.

Meeting Participation & Strategic Direction:

  • Attend design, coordination and technical meetings, providing continual structural engineering input to optimise design and minimise unnecessary work.

  • Provide clear technical direction to consultants, contractors and project partners when addressing structural engineering problems or problem statements.

Technical Liaison: Act as a key technical liaison between the client team, dedicated resources, external vendors, structural engineering consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders for all structural engineering aspects.

Documentation Management & Standards Enhancement:

  • Update owner-standard documentation, specifications and technical guidance as structural engineering design improvements are implemented.

  • Provide administrative assistance on project documentation, including revision control, deliverable tracking and final upload to the AODocs cloud database system.
