Overall Objective:
Provide comprehensive civil engineering design, review, coordination and assurance services to support the client's project lifecycle for mission-critical data centre developments.
Key Service Activities:
Develop, review and provide technical assurance for civil engineering designs associated with data centre campuses, including site infrastructure, roads, drainage, grading, earthworks, utilities and external works.
Review civil engineering calculations, specifications, reports, drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes and client requirements.
Develop and review site grading, storm water drainage, surface water management, utility infrastructure and civil site development solutions.
Review civil infrastructure interfaces with buildings, electrical yards, mechanical yards, substations and wider campus infrastructure.
Demonstrate familiarity with relevant local and international civil engineering standards, codes and regulations.
Review and assess proposed civil engineering solutions for constructability, cost efficiency, programme impact, operational performance and long-term maintainability.
Design Review & Coordination:
- Review and comment on civil drawings and design documentation using Google Workspace, BIM360, ACC and 3Dx cloud platforms
- Assess technical content, coordination and quality, identifying and escalating critical items affecting schedule, cost, constructability or project delivery to client consultants and contractors during design meetings.
- Ensure civil designs comply with all client Standards, Guidelines, OPRs and Narratives.
Site Development & Infrastructure Coordination:
- Provide technical input into site development and civil infrastructure strategies, ensuring effective coordination between civil works and architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Review site logistics, access arrangements, drainage, utilities, levels and interfaces between external and internal infrastructure.
System Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify, suggest and document improvements to civil engineering systems and design solutions, focusing on technology adoption, cost efficiency, time savings, constructability, sustainability, resilience and operational performance.
Defect Resolution & Project Closure:
- Support the management of civil engineering defects, punch-list items, site observations and outstanding works through to resolution.
- Participate in final inspections and provide technical input required for formal project closure.
Reporting & Communication:
- Provide regular updates and maintain comprehensive trackers of issues, risks, design actions and mitigation measures related to civil engineering.
- Report issues, progress and blocking items to the client's Technical Program Manager and Technical Lead.
Meeting Participation & Strategic Direction:
- Attend design, coordination and technical meetings, providing continual civil engineering input to optimise design and minimise unnecessary work.
- Provide clear technical direction to consultants, contractors and project partners when addressing civil engineering problems or problem statements.
Technical Liaison: Act as a key technical liaison between the client team, dedicated resources, external vendors, civil engineering consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders for all civil engineering aspects.
Documentation Management & Standards Enhancement:
- Update owner-standard documentation, specifications and technical guidance as civil engineering design improvements are implemented.
- Provide administrative assistance on project documentation, including revision control, deliverable tracking and final upload to the AODocs cloud database system.
