Reporting/Finance Manager, Japanese Speaking

Job Description

The Finance department is responsible for key accounting, reporting, tax, financial control and finance operations matters across the company. The role sits within the Finance team and reports to the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will support group consolidation, shareholder reporting packages, month-end close, statutory reporting and finance process improvements. This role will coordinate reporting submissions for selected group entities and work with internal stakeholders, auditors and external service providers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform monthly closing and consolidation activities to support accurate and timely group and statutory reporting
• Maintain financial books and records in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards and statutory requirements, including supporting the assessment of accounting standard changes and appropriate accounting treatment for business activities.
• Work closely with Financial Controller and other Finance team members to prepare group consolidation and shareholder reporting packages
• Oversee accounting and reporting for key holding and operating entities:
• JERA Trading International (JERATI) (Singapore)
• JERA Global Markets Holdings (Hold Co) (United Kingdom)
• JERA Global Markets Services (Japan) and liaising with its accounting team for the monthly reporting
• JERA Global Markets Netherlands
• Support JERA Global Markets Japan with monthly reporting coordination
• Act as the liaison between JERAGM Group and JERA for reporting, consolidation and any other queries
• Work closely with the auditors for JERA Group Audit and manage audits for JERATI and Hold Co
• Coordinate with JERAGM internal teams, JERA teams and external service provider (Japanese IT vendor and accounting professionals in Japan)
• Support Group Financial Controller/Financial Controller on ad-hoc duties as assigned
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, reporting quality and operational efficiency, including supporting relevant IT initiatives and Finance BI functionality

Please note that work outside normal business hours may be required at times, particularly during month-end closing and key reporting periods

4 core requirements / Qualifications:

• 10 years of relevant working experience in Finance within the energy or power industry (e.g. LNG, oil& gas, electricity, or commodity trading), including management experience in an organisation that reports to and works closely with a Japanese shareholder company
• Fluent in Japanese (preferably JLPT N1) is required, as the role involves preparing and submitting financial reports to the Japanese shareholder company and liaising directly with shareholder company stakeholders at both working and management levels in Japanese
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge, ideally with derivative accounting in the energy or commodity trading business
• Able to work independently, communicate clearly, manage multiple priorities under time pressure and contribute effectively as part of a team

2 Desirable Skills:

• Experience using finance systems, Horizon, Excel, automation and digital tools to support accounting, reconciliation and financial reporting activities
• Experience in supporting statutory audit, internal control review, or group reporting submissions
