The Hotel Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of hotel equipment, systems, and facilities. The role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other technical systems function correctly to maintain guest comfort, safety, and operational efficiency, while responding promptly to guest and staff repair requests.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on hotel equipment, including plumbing, electrical appliances, locks, heating, air conditioning, and bathroom fixtures.

  • Respond to guest repair requests and maintenance issues in guest rooms and public areas, communicating effectively to resolve problems with minimal supervision.

  • Carry out repairs or replacements of lamps, switches, outlets, minor electrical items, and cosmetic items as required.

  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on pumps, motors, plumbing (e.g., toilets, drains), and other equipment.

  • Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and systems, including cleaning, lubrication, and filter replacement.

  • Follow scheduled preventive maintenance plans for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

  • Maintain and update maintenance records, logs, and reports to support audits, inspections, and compliance.

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, air quality control, refrigeration, and other mechanical plant equipment.

  • Maintain electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and basic control systems.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and basic repair of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.

  • Ensure all shut-off valves, controls, and shut-offs for equipment and buildings are identified, located, and operated correctly.

  • Welcome and acknowledge guests, addressing their maintenance needs promptly and professionally.

  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and protect hotel assets during all work activities.

  • Follow all health, safety, and security policies and procedures, reporting maintenance problems, hazards, accidents, or injuries.

  • Ensure work areas are clean, tidy, and free of debris, and assist with general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
