Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, month-end closing, financial reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit and regulatory requirements of the company.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and other departments, the Senior Accountant will ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciliations are completed on a timely basis, and accounting records are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.

Experience in a brokerage, forex/CFD, securities, fintech, financial services, or others regulated environment will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Accounting

  • Perform and maintain day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and other accounting entries.
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate classification.
  • Monitor outstanding accounting items and follow up with relevant stakeholders for resolution.
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

2. Month-End & Year-End Closing

  • Assist with and coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Prepare monthly journals, including accruals, provisions, depreciation, prepayments, and other adjustments.
  • Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting working papers.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate unusual balances or variances.
  • Ensure all required accounting entries are completed within the reporting timeline.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements.

3. Brokerage & Trading Accounting

  • Record and reconcile brokerage-related transactions, including commissions, spreads, trading fees, rebates, and other revenue.
  • Reconcile trading platform records with the accounting system and other operational records.
  • Perform reconciliation of broker/counterparty accounts and settlement balances.
  • Assist with accounting for client deposits, withdrawals, fees, and other client-related transactions, where applicable.
  • Monitor and investigate discrepancies between trading platforms, payment systems, bank accounts, and the general ledger.
  • Support the Finance Manager in ensuring appropriate accounting treatment for trading and brokerage transactions.

4. Bank, PSP & Other Reconciliations

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile payment service provider (PSP), payment gateway, e-wallet, and other payment-related accounts, where applicable.
  • Reconcile broker, liquidity provider, and other counterparty balances.
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items promptly.
  • Maintain clear reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Escalate material or unusual discrepancies to the Finance Manager.

5. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare financial schedules, management reports, and analysis for review by the Finance Manager.
  • Assist with preparation of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and other financial reports.
  • Analyze account movements and investigate significant variances.
  • Provide accurate financial information and supporting schedules for management reporting.
  • Assist in preparing financial information required by internal stakeholders and senior management.

6. Regulatory & Statutory Reporting

  • Assist the Finance Manager with preparation of regulatory and statutory financial reports.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and financial information required for regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure accounting records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with regulatory reviews, inspections, and information requests.
  • Keep updated on relevant accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements and escalate material changes to the Finance Manager.

7. Audit & Tax

  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with auditors and external advisors on routine accounting queries.
  • Assist with preparation of corporate tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, and other applicable tax schedules and filings.
  • Follow up on audit and tax queries and ensure required documentation is provided on a timely basis.

8. Internal Controls

  • Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are obtained for financial transactions.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies, control weaknesses, or unusual transactions and escalate them appropriately.
  • Assist in improving accounting procedures and strengthening financial controls.
  • Support the Finance Manager in implementing corrective actions arising from audits or control reviews.

9. Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
  • Assist with automation of manual accounting and reconciliation processes.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of accounting, ERP, trading, and reconciliation systems.
  • Develop and maintain accounting working papers, templates, and process documentation.
  • Work with Operations, IT, Compliance, and other departments to improve data accuracy and financial processes.

10. Other Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members where required.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with ad-hoc financial analysis and accounting projects.
  • Support Finance-related projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Finance Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within financial services, brokerage, forex/CFD, securities, fintech, or another regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end closing and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with bank, payment processor, broker, or trading-related reconciliations is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of brokerage or trading transactions is an advantage.
  • Experience with multi-currency accounting is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
