About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and drive the planning and execution of new-build shipbuilding projects. The role will have overall responsibility for project delivery, including safety, schedule, cost, quality, stakeholder management, risk, and project team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of new-build shipbuilding projects in accordance with project management standards and contractual requirements.
- Define project scope, objectives, key deliverables, resources, timelines, budgets, and delivery strategies.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, monitor progress, and ensure key milestones are achieved.
- Lead cross-functional internal and external teams, providing direction, guidance, and mentorship to support effective project delivery.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities, including timely mitigation and escalation where required.
- Monitor project costs and expenditures against approved budgets, manage variances, and support timely management of variation orders.
- Manage project scope and changes through appropriate change-control processes while assessing business and operational impacts.
- Maintain effective communication with project sponsors, customers, management, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide regular project status updates, forecasts, and reports to management, supported by relevant project data and deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement and a collaborative, high-performing project environment, with a strong focus on safety, quality, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years of relevant project management experience, preferably in shipbuilding, marine, engineering, manufacturing, or other complex project environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving cross-functional teams, budgets, schedules, risks, and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, cost control, risk management, change management, and project governance.
- Strong written, verbal communication, presentation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Primavera P6, PMP certification, or relevant marine/project management certification will be an advantage.
