Tableau Server Administrator

We are looking for an experienced Tableau Server Administrator to support the administration, upgrade and ongoing operations of enterprise Tableau Server environments across Development, QA and Production.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Tableau Server administration, production support, upgrade activities, troubleshooting and deployment support. The role will also involve working closely with infrastructure and application teams to ensure platform stability and successful implementation of upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Tableau Server environments across Development, QA and Production.

• Support Tableau Server upgrade planning, execution, validation and post-upgrade activities.

• Manage users, groups, permissions, licences, extracts, schedules and published data sources.

• Troubleshoot and resolve Tableau Server issues across QA and Production environments.

• Execute, maintain and update existing regression and upgrade test cases.

• Coordinate with infrastructure teams on RHEL/Linux OS and middleware upgrades.

• Support CI/CD and deployment activities using tools such as GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins and Ansible.

• Develop and maintain scripts and process automation using Python, Tableau REST APIs, TSC, tabcmd or related tools.

• Validate dependent Control-M jobs during and after Tableau Server upgrades.

• Perform Tableau Server monitoring, administration and production support as part of BAU activities.

• Maintain appropriate technical and operational documentation for platform changes and upgrade activities.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Tableau Server administration.

• Practical experience performing Tableau Server upgrades in production environments.

• Good understanding of Tableau Server architecture, Tableau Services Manager (TSM), services, logs, backup and restore, and troubleshooting.

• Experience administering Tableau Server in Linux/RHEL environments.

• Good understanding of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server compatibility and enterprise deployment processes.

• Experience supporting enterprise production environments and working with infrastructure and application teams.

• Good troubleshooting, analytical and communication skills.

Advantageous Skills

• Python scripting and process automation.

• Experience with Tableau REST API, Tableau Server Client (TSC) and tabcmd.

• Experience with Jenkins, Git/GitHub Enterprise and Ansible.

• Knowledge of CI/CD and release management processes.

• Exposure to Control-M or other enterprise batch scheduling tools.
