Investment Research Assistant
This is an entry-level position suitable for candidates who are interested in developing practical skills in financial statement analysis and listed-company research.
Prior experience in investment banking, asset management or equity research is not required.
Polytechnic graduates, private university graduates and fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Research & Data Maintenance
Collect, organise and maintain financial information for selected listed companies, including:
Annual and quarterly financial reports
Income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
Revenue and earnings trends
Cash flow
Capital expenditure
Cash and debt positions
Shares outstanding
Share buybacks and dividends
Key financial ratios and operating indicators
Build and continuously maintain historical financial records for companies under coverage.
2. Company & Major Event Monitoring
Monitor important developments relating to companies under coverage, including:
Quarterly and annual results
Earnings announcements
Management guidance
Investor presentations
Earnings calls
Acquisitions and disposals
Changes in senior management
Share buybacks and dividends
Capital allocation decisions
Major litigation or regulatory developments
Significant industry and competitive developments
Identify material developments and prepare concise and accurate summaries.
3. Investment Research Support
Assist in maintaining long-term research records for selected listed companies.
Compare current financial performance with:
Previous quarters
Previous-year periods
Historical trends
Previous management guidance
Highlight significant changes in business performance, financial condition and company fundamentals.
Assist in preparing simple company research notes and investment monitoring reports.
4. Research Database Management
Maintain organised records of:
Annual and quarterly reports
Company announcements
Investor presentations
Financial spreadsheets
Research notes
Company and industry news
Historical financial data
Ensure that research information is accurate, well organised and traceable to its original source.
Candidate Requirements
A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas is preferred:
Accountancy
Accounting & Finance
Banking & Finance
Finance
Business
Other relevant disciplines
Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in accounting, audit, finance, financial reporting or related roles are also encouraged to apply.
Prior professional investment experience is not required.

Training & Development
Practical on-the-job training will be provided in:
Financial statement analysis
Listed-company research
Fundamental investment research
Company monitoring
Financial data analysis
Basic valuation concepts
Advanced investment knowledge is not expected at the beginning.
Career Development
This position is intended to develop into a long-term investment research role.
Stage 1 — Investment Research Assistant
Develop the ability to read and organise financial statements, maintain company research files, track company announcements and build historical financial databases.
Stage 2 — Junior Investment Research Analyst
As experience and capabilities develop, independently follow selected listed companies, analyse quarterly results, prepare monitoring reports, maintain basic financial models and identify material changes in company fundamentals.
Stage 3 — Investment Research Analyst
With sufficient experience and demonstrated ability, independently cover a portfolio of listed companies, conduct fundamental company research, perform basic valuation analysis and participate in investment research discussions.
