Commercial Executive
About this job
We are looking for a commercially driven and detail-oriented professional to support the tendering, costing, procurement and contract management activities for marine and shipyard projects. The role will work closely with clients, brokers, equipment suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop competitive project proposals, manage equipment sourcing and support the commercial execution of awarded projects.
Responsibilities:
Tendering & Costing
- Liaise with clients and brokers on new project opportunities and tender enquiries.
- Review tender specifications, drawings and project requirements to develop accurate project costing.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering equipment, materials, labour, foreign exchange and other relevant project costs.
- Develop costing frameworks and ensure all pricing inputs are accurate and commercially competitive.
- Identify key equipment, systems and potential project risks during the tender stage.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to consolidate technical and commercial information for timely tender submission.
- Support tender reviews, commercial evaluations and cash flow projections where required.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Prepare and issue RFPs/RFQs to equipment and material suppliers based on project specifications.
- Source and evaluate supplier quotations, ensuring technical compliance and competitive commercial pricing.
- Engage suppliers to clarify technical and commercial requirements and negotiate where appropriate.
- Support the selection of suitable equipment suppliers based on project requirements, pricing and delivery considerations.
- Assist with the preparation and negotiation of equipment procurement contracts and purchase agreements.
- Monitor supplier delivery schedules, milestones and payment requirements to ensure timely equipment delivery.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Support contract discussions and negotiations with clients and suppliers.
- Manage commercial aspects of awarded projects, including budget monitoring, cost control and milestone payments.
- Monitor equipment contracts, invoices, guarantees and other contractual requirements.
- Work closely with project and operational teams to ensure equipment and materials are delivered according to project requirements.
- Assist with post-project reviews and capture relevant commercial and costing information for future tenders.
Client & Market Engagement
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, brokers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Gather market intelligence on vessel types, marine equipment, supplier pricing and market trends.
- Attend client, supplier and shipyard meetings locally or overseas when required.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Marine or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the marine/shipyard industry.
- Experience in tendering, estimation, commercial, procurement or marine equipment sourcing.
- Good understanding of marine equipment, materials and shipyard operations.
- Strong commercial acumen with good numerical and analytical skills.
- Experience in preparing cost estimates, evaluating supplier quotations and developing pricing.
- Knowledge of contracts, purchase agreements and commercial terms.
- Knowledge of legal or marine insurance terms will be an advantage.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Meticulous, self-motivated and able to work within tight tender deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to shipyards or overseas for meetings when required.
