Job Summary
As a QA/QC Inspector, you will ensure materials, processes, and final steel fabrication products meet quality standards by conducting inspections, testing, and collaborating with teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and tests on materials, welds, and finished steel products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steel components to ensure accuracy against drawings and specifications
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and management teams to identify and resolve quality issues promptly
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) for traceability
- Assist in developing and implementing quality control procedures, standards, and protocols to enhance process reliability
- Monitor welding processes by reviewing weld maps, conducting non-destructive testing (NDT), and verifying adherence to proper welding techniques
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in safety audits on-site
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to confirm correct manufacturing processes
- Assist in calibrating and maintaining testing equipment and tools to ensure measurement accuracy
- Provide feedback and recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives in quality and process efficiency
- Liaise with clients and external auditors during inspections and quality assessments to uphold client satisfaction and regulatory compliance
Required competencies and certifications
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 Certification (or equivalent) as mandatory for welding inspection and quality assurance
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- Minimum 1-2 years of QA/QC experience in steel fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of welding standards such as ASME and AWS, and non-destructive testing processes
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Ability to operate measuring and testing instruments including calipers, micrometers, and weld gauges
- Familiarity with local and international quality standards such as ISO 9001
- Certification in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
- Experience with non-destructive testing methods like ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle inspection
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software
- Should have proficient knowledge of documentation and record maintenance.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Relevant certifications in Quality Assurance/Control beyond mandatory CSWIP certification
