Chartering Manager

Role Overview

Responsible for managing tanker chartering activities, developing commercial opportunities, negotiating charterparty terms, and optimising vessel employment and profitability. The role will work closely with owners, charterers, brokers, operators, and other stakeholders across the tanker market.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day tanker chartering activities, including voyage and time charter opportunities.
• Source and evaluate cargo and vessel employment opportunities across various tanker segments and cargo types.
• Negotiate freight rates, charterparty terms, laycan, demurrage, and other commercial conditions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, brokers, and cargo interests.
• Monitor tanker market trends, freight rates, vessel positions, and market opportunities.
• Coordinate closely with operations and post-fixture teams to ensure smooth execution of fixtures.
• Review and negotiate charterparty agreements and related commercial documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilisation, voyage economics, and overall profitability.
• Provide regular market updates and commercial recommendations to management.
• Ensure all chartering activities are conducted in line with company policies and applicable regulations.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of relevant tanker chartering experience within the maritime or shipping industry.
• Strong understanding of tanker markets, chartering practices, freight negotiations, and charterparty terms.
• Good commercial acumen with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Able to work independently and make commercially sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel and attend industry meetings when required.
