Workshop Controller (Jaguar and Land Rover)

Responsibilities

  • Workshop Management:

    • Allocate work to technicians based on skill level, job priority, and availability.

    • Monitor job progress throughout the day to ensure timely completion and handover.

    • Ensure workshop efficiency and productivity targets are met or exceeded.

  • Technical Oversight:

    • Provide guidance to technicians on complex diagnostics and repair procedures.

    • Ensure quality control checks are carried out on completed work.

    • Authorise additional work required and liaise with Service Advisors for customer approval.

  • Customer Satisfaction:

    • Work closely with Service Advisors to keep customers updated on progress.

    • Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints and comebacks.

    • Ensure high standards of vehicle care and presentation.

  • Health & Safety / Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop.

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.

    • Ensure that all repairs comply with JLR and legal standards.

  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead and motivate the technician team to deliver high performance.

    • Conduct regular team briefings, monitor training needs, and support technician development.

    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of workshop staff.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Review and authorise job cards and ensure accurate labour recording.

    • Monitor parts delays and coordinate effectively with the Parts Department.

    • Report on workshop KPIs such as efficiency, productivity, and utilisation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a workshop control or senior technician role, preferably within a premium automotive environment.
  • Preferably with JLR experience and familiarity with Jaguar Land Rover service systems and processes.
  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and first-time fix rate.
  • Positive, proactive, and performance-driven mindset.
  • Excellent technical knowledge across modern vehicle systems.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Good understanding of warranty and manufacturer standards (preferably JLR).
  • Proficient with dealership systems (e.g. CDK/Kerridge, TOPIx, AutoGateway).
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Possess a valid Class 3 driver’s licence
