Job objective

The Electrical Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of the Electrical department and to support the delivery of health, safety and environmental standards, Technical Integrity Standards and Client Corporate Management System. Responsible for the safe and efficient functioning of all aspects of the electrical distribution systems. The Electrical Lead will perform the duties of Responsible Person Electrical (RPE), once authorised to do so.

Result areas

The Electrical Lead is responsible to the Maintenance Superintendent for:

General

· Administration of the Electrical Department on a day-to-day basis and informing the Maintenance Superintendent of all developments.

· Ensuring that all staff including contractors, have adequate information to carry out tasks safely and efficiently, in compliance with control measures and site safety precautions.

· Reporting incidents and non-conformities.

· Ensuring that the safety, health and welfare of all the Electrical team are maintained to Client’s policy and statutory standards.

· Acting as Area Authority (Electrical) for the electronic permit to work system.

· Managing and controlling isolation/de-isolation certificates and complying with company isolation policy. Adequate records must be kept and updated as required.

· Monitoring and controlling Instrument and Electrical long term isolations. Adequate records must be kept and updated as required.

· Controlling key lockout box system. Log must be kept up to date.

· Supporting in the resourcing and development of maintenance operations personnel.

· Supporting and ensuring Electrical team reach required standard of competency.

· Acting as Assessor within the Client’s competency assessment procedure.

· Ensuring commitment to the Technical and Operation Integrity Standards for all maintenance, services and engineering works completed by the Electrical team

· Contributing to the creation and maintenance of operational budgets and providing monthly forecasts.

· Liaising with contractors, onshore support teams and other departments, keeping them informed of activities that may affect them.

· Providing clear and concise communication of priorities to relevant personnel, including team meetings, handovers and information on targets and performance.

· Performing tasks in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring all personnel under their jurisdiction including Service Engineers, do the same.

· Raising Material Requisitions for the ordering of spare equipment and confirm the correct delivery.

· Deputising for the Maintenance Superintendent when required.

· Knowledge of Maintenance Management System (MMS) along with the ability to input/extract data as required.

· Maintaining Electrical Department Maximo inputs and managing same on a regular basis.

· Compliance with and commitment to:

o Client Corporate Management System

o Client Operational Safety Case

o The development and review of operational procedures and manuals

o Company Policies and Procedures

o Client Environmental Management System

o Client Competency Scheme

Specific

· The safe and efficient functioning of all the electrical aspect of the installation, including switching operations.

· A regular routine inspection being carried out of the entire electrical installation.

· Liaising with other departments to ensure that electrical defects are dealt with promptly.

· Inspecting Contractors electrical equipment and maintaining a register.

· The control of all electrical equipment.

· Maintaining the good order of the electrical emergency systems, ensuring that they are instantly available when required.

· Monitoring and performing all electrical maintenance and repairs to ensure that they are carried out
safely and to an acceptable standard of workmanship in accordance with the Company procedures.

· Planned maintenance being carried out when due and that all records are kept up to date in accordance with the Maximo Maintenance Management System.

· Ensuring the installation ATEX register is up to date and conducting ATEX inspections as required.

· Acting as Area Authority for all spaces which come under the auspices of the electrical team.

· Overseeing relevant work permits for work to be done and ensure that all relevant regulations and codes of safe practices are complied with at all times.

Safety and Environmental Critical Activities

· Isolator -electronic permit to work system

· Electrical work in hazardous areas

· Ex maintenance

· High voltage work

· Maintenance of electrical emergency system

· Isolation of plant and equipment

· Acting as a nominated delegated Area Authority when required.

Emergency Response Duties

· Offshore Emergency Response Team Member

· Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Member

· Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain

Education & experience

Qualifications:

· Combined Offshore Survival, Fire Fighting and HUETCertificate

· MIST / IMIST

· Oil & Gas UK Offshore Medical Certificate

· Oil & Gas UK Certificate of Fitness to Participate in Emergency Response Team Duties

· Electrical or E&I qualification recognised under the National Qualifications Framework or a completed registered or indentured apprenticeship

Experience:

· Practical experience in electrical installation work and switching.

· HV/MV Switching
