Public Relations Officer (Construction industry)

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact between the project team and residents, businesses, stakeholders and the general public.
  • Manage public enquiries, feedback and complaints arising from construction activities and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Conduct door-to-door engagement, site briefings and stakeholder meetings where required.
  • Inform affected stakeholders of upcoming construction activities, road diversions, noise, access changes and other potential disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of public feedback, complaints, correspondence and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors and relevant authorities to address public concerns.
  • Prepare and distribute notices, circulars, newsletters and other communication materials relating to project activities.
  • Monitor surrounding areas and proactively identify potential community or stakeholder concerns.
  • Support community engagement activities and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Assist with incident and crisis communications where required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably within the construction, infrastructure or built environment sector.
  • Prior experience as a PRO on construction projects would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Able to handle public feedback and complaints professionally and tactfully.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with project/site teams and external stakeholders.
