The Quantity Surveyor (Building) reports directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and is responsible for supporting all cost management and contractual administration activities related to the Main Contract and Sub-Contracts throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Description

  • Perform accurate measurement and valuation of quantities to support the preparation of progress payment claims, variation order submissions, subcontractor payments, supplier payments, and final account settlements.

  • Assist in the preparation of regular cost reports, budget monitoring, and cost control measures to ensure effective financial management of the project.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and records of site events, project changes, and contractual matters to support variation order (VO) and extension of time (EOT) claims.

  • Work closely with site store personnel to ensure proper tracking, documentation, and control of materials usage and inventory.

  • Review project specifications, scope of works, and contractual requirements at various construction stages to provide cost and contractual advice to structural, architectural, and M&E teams.

  • Support the procurement process for subcontractors, suppliers, and specified construction materials, including tender evaluation and cost comparison.

  • Attend technical and project coordination meetings to monitor design development, identify potential cost implications, and provide timely cost escalation advice.

  • Develop a strong understanding of contractual obligations, rights, and responsibilities of the Main Contractor to provide guidance on contractual risks, project constraints, and potential claims.

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements and promote a safe working environment at all times.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 year of relevant experience in quantity surveying, tendering, cost estimation and quantity measurement for building projects with a contract value of S$25 million and above.
