Position Overview
We are looking for a commercially driven Area Sales Manager to develop and grow business across an assigned geographical territory within the marine industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, marine contractors and other key maritime stakeholders, identifying new business opportunities and promoting marine equipment, products and technical solutions.
This role is ideal for an experienced marine sales professional with strong industry connections and a proven ability to develop accounts and convert opportunities into sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies for the assigned territory.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the marine and offshore sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards and marine operators.
- Manage existing customer accounts and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
- Conduct customer visits, meetings, presentations and product demonstrations.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable marine equipment, products or services.
- Prepare and follow up on quotations, proposals, tenders and commercial offers.
- Lead commercial negotiations and work towards securing new orders.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide regular sales forecasts.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities and emerging opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Work closely with technical, engineering, service and operations teams to ensure customer requirements are properly addressed.
- Attend maritime exhibitions, conferences, shipyard visits and industry networking events.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales information in CRM systems.
- Achieve agreed sales, revenue and profitability targets.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of sales, business development or commercial experience within the marine, shipping, offshore or industrial equipment industry.
- Strong network and established relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards or marine service companies.
- Experience selling marine equipment, machinery, components, technical products or services is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of the marine industry and vessel operations.
- Proven track record in developing new business and managing key accounts.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and customer-oriented approach.
- Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working independently.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and internationally when required.
