PRE-FABRICATION WORKER (PIPING FABRICATION)

Job Summary
The Pre-Fabrication Worker is responsible for carrying out the fabrication of fire protection piping in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role includes pipe cutting, grooving, threading, welding, painting, and other related fabrication activities to support project requirements while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pipe cutting, measuring, marking, and preparation according to fabrication drawings.
- Carry out pipe grooving and threading using the appropriate machinery and equipment.
- Perform welding works in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements.
- Grind, bevel, and prepare pipe ends before fabrication and welding.
- Apply primer and paint coating to fabricated piping and steel components as required.
- Assemble fabricated piping and fittings according to shop drawings.
- Inspect fabricated items to ensure dimensions, workmanship, and quality meet project specifications.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including threading machines, grooving machines, welding machines, grinders, cutting machines, and lifting equipment safely.
- Ensure proper identification, storage, and handling of fabricated materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping within the fabrication workshop.
- Report defective materials, equipment faults, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Follow all Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, company safety procedures, and quality control requirements.
- Assist with loading, unloading, packing, and delivery preparation of fabricated materials when required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Production Manager.
Job Requirements
- Relevant experience in piping fabrication, preferably in the fire protection or construction industry.
- Knowledge of pipe grooving, threading, welding, and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings is an advantage.
- Experience operating fabrication machinery and hand tools.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work in a workshop environment.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Welding certification is an added advantage.
