QAQC ENGINEER

The QA/QC Engineer (Fire Protection) is responsible for ensuring all fire protection system works are executed in compliance with project specifications, relevant codes, and authority requirements. The role focuses on quality assurance, inspection, testing, and documentation for fire protection installations such as sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, fire alarm systems, and gas suppression systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement QA/QC plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and checklists for fire protection works.

• Ensure all installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.

• Conduct site inspections for fire protection systems, including:

o Sprinkler systems

o Hose reel / hydrant systems

o Fire alarm systems

o Gas suppression systems

• Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, and subcontractors on quality and inspection matters.

• Prepare and submit inspection reports, material submissions, and method statements.

• Ensure compliance with local authority requirements, including Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) codes and standards.

• Monitor installation quality to ensure compliance with relevant standards such as:

o NFPA

o SS CP / Singapore Standards for fire protection systems

• Raise and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely closure with corrective actions.

• Witness and coordinate testing & commissioning activities, including:

o Hydrostatic testing

o Pressure testing

o Functional testing of alarm and suppression systems

• Maintain proper QA/QC documentation, records, and handover documents.

• Support project teams during audits and authority inspections.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

• Minimum 3–5 years of QA/QC experience in fire protection or M&E construction projects.

• Strong knowledge of fire protection systems and installation practices.

• Familiar with SCDF regulations and submission requirements.

• Knowledge of NFPA and Singapore Standards (SS).

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

• Good documentation, reporting, and coordination skills.

• Proficient in MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data centre / industrial / commercial building projects.

• Certification related to fire protection systems or QA/QC is an advantage.

• Familiarity with testing and commissioning procedures.
